Fr. John Staudenmaier, S.J., is the Assistant to the President for Mission and Identity at the University of Detroit Mercy. Fr. Staudenmaier is widely known as a scholar and professor of the history of technology and is the Editor Emeritus of the publication "Technology and Culture". Fr. Staudenmaier will speak on "Our 21st Century Demon: Nostalgia". Fr. Staudenmaier will discuss how longing for another time or another place can prevent us from encountering God in the only way possible: in the here and now. Time and place matter immensely - in our spirituality, and in our living. We are here in Detroit, in 2017, at this particular moment in history - and that has a profound impact on how we find God in prayer, and on discerning how to live our lives.
